How much storage will my project need?

Getting your music recorded has certainly evolved over the years, from making impressions on a wax disc, to 2" tape, to today's computer storage solutions.  All recording conducted at Buzzline Sounds is ultimately saved digitally.  Since you probably would like to be able to take your recording with you after you finish tracking, you'll need to bring some sort of media storage on which the tracks may be saved.

How much storage capacity you'll need is entirely dependent on your project.  The length of your song, the number of tracks (instruments and vocals), and the number of takes all impact the overall amount of storage required. All Buzzline Sounds recordings are done using 24 bit/48 kHz digital resolution, which uses approximately 8.2 MB per minute per track.

Don't feel like breaking out the calculator?  Here's a quick reference table for you 🙂

Keep in mind this assumes you have a perfect day and don't require any additional takes.  I'd recommend you have at least double the minimum storage required just to give you the flexibility to have multiple takes to choose from or to take advantage of the creative bug hitting you with fresh inspiration.
