Snare Shoot-out
I did a mic shoot-out using a few of the mics available here in the studio, and then swapped out a few of the snares for comparison, too. In order, the mics are Sennheiser 421, Shure PG56, Neumann KM184, Audio Technica ATM450, Shure SM57, and Shure SM7b. An additional SM57 was placed under the drums to capture the snares and was mixed in at -4db below the top mics, which were are set to record equal levels. All drums have Remo Controlled Sound heads and were fitted with a Remo Tono Control ring.
